‘Fifty Shades’ is Fastest Selling R-Rated Movie in Fandango History

If you want to know the secret about ‘Fifty Shades of Grey‘ because you’re one of the few women who haven’t read the book yet (or you’re a dude), here’s the scoop.  The EL James’ trilogy about a billionaire playboy and his innocent but willing sexual muse has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, pre-purchase ticket sales for the movie version are running at a pace just as torrid as the book’s steamy masochistic affair. The secret: Sex still sells.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Advance tickets for Fifty Shades of Grey just went on sale last Sunday, but the hotly-anticipated film version of the best-selling erotic novel is already the fastest selling R-rated title in Fandango history.

The film, which hits theaters on Feb. 13, sold more advance tickets in its first week of sales than Sex and the City 2, The Hangover Part II, The Hangover Part III and Gone Girl.
